Speaking in an event, Indian star cricketer Abhishek Sharma has come forward to reveal his struggles with health during the start of the T20 World Cup, and how he tried his best to overcome that.
Abhishek revealed that he wasn’t even able to stand properly during the first game against the US, and despite strong objections from the senior players as well as the team management, he decided that he would give it his best and at least show up for the big day rather than recovering.
His exact words were, “If you’re preparing for this tournament for two years and then suddenly get hospitalized right before it, visions start to come to your mind regarding the reason behind this happening. The first match arrived and I was not even able to stand properly. I told Sanju Bhai and he asked me to play.”
Abhishek’s words touched the hearts of the public, who commended his courage to go out and perform despite not being in the best of shape to do so.
Some people decided to find a hint of toxicity in this as well, arguing that the real reason behind Abhishek going out to play was that he didn’t want Sanju to take his place in the squad and threaten his spot in the World Cup.
While such theories will always keep floating, the two players showed incredible brotherhood, both in the field and in the interview where Abhishek said these things. The public sometimes goes overboard in putting the blame on someone, even if there is no proof to support any of it.
All said and done, both Abhishek and Sanju are incredible assets for the team, and one should always hope for both of their betterment so that Team India remains dominant in the realm of cricket going ahead.
