Varun Under Pressure? Ashwin Shares Big Advice

Ashwin advice for Varun Chakravarthy

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has shared an important suggestion for Varun Chakravarthy ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand.

Ashwin believes the mystery spinner should avoid bowling round the wicket to left handed batters. According to him, this angle allows left handers to attack more freely.

India entered the final after defeating England by seven runs in the Semi final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a tense match, but the Indian team managed to hold its nerve in the closing stages.

Despite the victory, Varun Chakravarthy had a difficult outing with the ball. The spinner conceded 64 runs and picked up one wicket during the match.

His spell turned out to be one of the most expensive in T20 World Cup history. However, India still managed to defend the total and secure a place in the final.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin explained that Varun’s confidence can drop if batters attack him early in his spell. Early boundaries often increase pressure on the bowler.

Ashwin clarified that teams are not targeting Varun Chakravarthy deliberately. But when runs come quickly, the pressure naturally shifts onto the bowler.

He advised Varun to focus more on maintaining the right line and length. Small variations in pace can also help him control the scoring.

Ashwin also repeated his main suggestion clearly. Varun should avoid bowling round the wicket to left handers as it makes shot making easier for them.

India will now face New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Indian team will hope Varun Chakravarthy can bounce back strongly and deliver a crucial performance in the title clash.
