IND vs ENG: India’s Clueless Captaincy Exposed?

England beat India in second T20I

England defeated India by 4 wickets in the second T20I at Old Trafford. England chased 191 in the 19th over and went 1-0 up in the series.

India, batting first, scored 190/7. Abhishek Sharma gave a fast start with 43 off 24 balls. Ishan Kishan made 49 off 40 balls but could not increase the scoring rate in the middle overs. Shreyas Iyer scored 37 from 22 balls. Tilak Varma finished unbeaten on 24 off 11 balls and added some late runs.

Sam Curran took 3 wickets for England. Jofra Archer, Will Jacks and Liam Dawson took one wicket each.

England’s chase did not start well. Arshdeep Singh removed Phil Salt on the first ball and Jos Buttler in the same over. India had early control.

Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell then changed the match. Brook scored 39 off 15 balls. Bethell and Tom Banton added 67 runs and built the chase again.

Bethell stayed till the end and made 76 not out from 46 balls to finish the game for England.

India lost mainly because Ishan Kishan’s slow innings on a good batting pitch slowed down the scoring in the middle overs. Ravi Bishnoi also bowled three no balls which gave England extra chances at key moments.

India’s bowling changes were not effective in the middle overs and they failed to break partnerships when needed and clueless captaincy from Shreyas Iyer.

On debut, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 14 runs in his first T20I appearance.
