
The Indian Premier League, like every other year, has Indians amped up to see their favourite teams battle it against each other to gain the trophy for this year.
Amidst all the buzz, it has been announced that the first match of IPL 2025 will take place between the ‘Royal Challengers Bengaluru’ (RCB) and 2024-winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 22nd, 2025.

Historically, both teams have clashed with each other a total of 34 times, out of which 20 times the result has been in KKR’s favour.
Virat Kohli has been the most run scorer in the rivalry, scoring a net total of 962 runs followed by Chris Gayle, who has scored 606 runs.

The crown for the most wickets is firmly kept safe with Sunil Narine, with 26 wickets to show for himself.
This year the RCB will be led by Rajat Patidar, a decision that has disappointed many of the team’s fans who were expecting Virat Kohli to take on the role.

While Rajat Patidar comes nowhere close to Kohli’s mammoth figures, he has had good performances both in IPL 2024 as well as many domestic circuits, making him worthy of the role as well.
With such a big responsibility on his shoulders, it will be interesting to see if he manages to lead a successful campaign in 2025, starting with defeating the champions of 2024, the defending KKR.
