IND vs ENG: Kerala Star to Be Dropped? Pujara Reacts

Sanju Samson before 2nd T20I

Sanju Samson’s place in India’s T20I team has become a major talking point after another disappointing outing with the bat.

While many fans have questioned whether India should continue backing him, former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara believes the team management should stay patient.

Speaking on JioStar, Pujara said Samson has already shown what he can do in T20 cricket and deserves a longer run in the playing XI.

He added that there should not be unnecessary noise around the wicketkeeper batter’s place in the side and urged him to keep playing his natural game.

Pujara also shared his thoughts on the growing demand for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s debut. He said the youngster deserves an opportunity, but not by dropping an established top order batter.

According to him, if India want to give Vaibhav a chance, it should come through player rotation rather than breaking a settled batting order.

Pujara’s backing comes at a time when Sanju Samson is under pressure to score runs. Since India’s T20 World Cup win, he has failed to make a significant contribution with the bat, leading to increasing questions over his place in the XI.

With the second T20I against England set to be played today, all eyes will be on India’s team selection. Will the management continue to back Samson despite his poor run, or will the pressure for a change continue to grow?
