Team India recently completed a historic campaign in the T20 World Cup by winning the title and ending the 13-year draught for the ICC cup.
Immediately after this win, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced retirement from the T20 format of the game.
In the series corresponding to the World Cup, India came up against Zimbabwe in the T20 series. This is where India looked extremely shaky.
For instance, in the first game, India couldn’t even chase down a target of 124. Though the second game was one-sided with India winning by 100 runs, the result of the first game showed that India is indeed shaky without Rohit and Kohli.
It is true that India didn’t have the services of Bumrah, Hardik and Surya either, but the men in blue can’t be failing to chase 124 runs against Zimbabwe.
A full sample size can be taken once Hardik returns as the captain and the new-look team starts playing in major tournaments. But the start after the departure of Rohit and Kohli has been shaky to say the least.
On top of that, Gambhir is arriving as the head coach and it has to be seen what sort of an impact he will have on the new looking side.
