Dhanush is currently awaiting the release of his next movie, Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, which is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on June 20th.
Simultaneously, Dhanush is acting as a lead in two projects: Idly Kadai, directed by himself, and the Bollywood project Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Anand L. Rai.
Yesterday, he announced his next project, a biography based on A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, tentatively titled Kalam, to be directed by Om Raut.
This update has surprised the entire Kollywood industry. Some people are excited about Dhanush’s extensive lineup and appreciate his hard work.
However, some have been critical, commenting that Dhanush should complete his announced projects before committing to new ones, arguing that he merely announces them and not materializing them.
At the same time, according to reports, Dhanush has finalized two movies with budding directors Tamizharasan Pachamuthu and Vignesh Raja, but these projects are currently on hold due to his earlier commitments.
He also announced a movie with Amaran-famed Rajkumar Periyasamy, which is also on hold due to his other commitments.
Given this context, Dhanush’s sudden announcement of Kalam with Om Raut has led some netizens to comment that he is hindering the careers of young, talented directors by putting their projects on hold and announcing new ones.
Moreover, Dhanush’s earlier announced Ilaiyaraaja biopic project has almost been shelved, and it is in this scenario that he has announced his next project.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how the prestigious Kalam project will shape up in the future and whether it becomes a blockbuster success upon its release.
