Recently, the special character reveal teaser of Malayalam actor Naslen from his Kollywood debut film Scene was released and is going viral on social media, receiving mixed reviews from audiences and critics.
Many viewers, after watching the teaser, feel that although Naslen’s characterization and screen presence were good, the cuts and the background score in the glimpse were very flat and not up to expectations.
They feel that instead of releasing this 45-second, half-baked glimpse, the makers of Scene should have revealed Naslen’s characterization in the trailer.
This is because they think the 45-second teaser was very poor as promotional material and they suggest that if the Scene team had surprisingly revealed Naslen’s characterization in the trailer, it would have elevated it to a whole new level.
Meanwhile, many social media users have started suggesting that this is the first time Suriya has been overshadowed by another actor in his film in terms of hype.
While some people are taking it positively and appreciating Suriya, suggesting that this sort of hype happens only when an actor chooses the right script with a strong antagonist and claiming that Suriya has picked a solid project, others feel there is a strong possibility of Naslen stealing the spotlight from Suriya after the release. They claim that based on the promotional materials, it is evident that Naslen’s characterization is far more unique than Suriya’s in Scene.
Ultimately, with mixed reviews from audiences and critics for Naslen’s character reveal glimpse, it remains to be seen whether Scene will emerge as a huge blockbuster success, helping Naslen make a solid debut in Kollywood upon its release on November 6th.
