Producer Aakash Baskaran, who turned director with the recently released film Idhayam Murali starring Atharvaa and Kayadu Lohar in the lead roles, is currently promoting it through interviews and attending various events.
In one such interview, he opened up about the reasons behind the financial loss incurred by Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, which was produced under his banner Dawn Pictures and it is now going viral on social media, sparking trolls against Sivakarthikeyan.
Aakash Baskaran stated that he had done both Parasakthi and Idli Kadai on a profit-sharing basis. He claimed that for Parasakthi, he was unable to honor the profit-sharing agreement because the film did not perform well at the box office relative to its massive budget.
Furthermore, he mentioned that for Idli Kadai, he successfully delivered what he promised to Dhanush, explaining that Idli Kadai was made on a comparatively lower budget and turned out to be a profitable venture for them.
In response to these statements from the producer, many of Sivakarthikeyan‘s contemporaries are trolling him by pointing out Sivakarthikeyan’s speech at the Parasakthi success meet, where he had claimed that the film was a profitable venture for the production house and had reached a far wider audience than expected.
They are now raising questions as to why Sivakarthikeyan made false statements during the success meet, with several users pointing out that both his previous films such as Madharaasi and Parasakthi have ended up as loss ventures. Hence, they are claiming that Sivakarthikeyan is fooling his fans by branding his films as profitable ventures when the reality is completely the opposite.
Additionally, some people are even advising Sivakarthikeyan to do projects that match his market caliber rather than doing high-budget films that end up wasting the producers’ money.
