The Madras High Court has refused to block the OTT release of Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan. The decision provides interim relief to the makers, including director Sudha Kongara, allowing the film to continue streaming without interruption.
The legal dispute arose after Parasakthi’s theatrical release in January 2026. Assistant director Varun Rajendran filed a case claiming the film copied his story titled Semmozhi. He alleged that the film’s core idea and background were derived from his work and sought an interim stay.
The High Court declined to grant a restraining order. As a result, Parasakthi will remain available on OTT platforms while the case proceeds. The next hearing is scheduled for February 9, 2026, to address the full matter.
Producers Don Pictures strongly contested the plagiarism allegations. They stated that the film is set against the 1965 anti-Hindi agitation in Tamil Nadu. While the period is historical, the characters, plot, screenplay, and dialogues are entirely fictional.
With no interim stay imposed, there are currently no legal obstacles for the OTT release. Audiences can watch the film as scheduled, but all attention remains on the February 9 hearing for the court’s final decision.
