The Tamil actor Ravi Mohan and his wife Aarti Ravi’s divorce battle has been making headlines for a while now and the main reason for this is Aarti’s demand of ₹40 lakh per month as alimony.
After 15 years of marriage and two kids, the couple’s split has become a spectacle with emotional social media exchanges and allegations from both sides. Aarti’s alimony demand is unprecedented in its scale and is being criticized and supported.

She says the amount is necessary to maintain her lifestyle and security and of their two sons, 10 and 14 years old, after all these years of marital life.
Critics including many on social media question the justification for such a high figure, saying even a luxurious life for two kids would not require ₹40 lakh a month.

Some point out that this amount is more than the monthly salary of top professionals and even more than the actor’s reported per film remuneration, making the demand seem excessive.
Aarti’s supporters argue that if there was infidelity or emotional harm (as she claims, citing singer Kenishaa Francis as a “third person” in their marriage) then a big alimony is justified, both as compensation and to ensure the kids’ well-being.

Ravi Mohan has countered with allegations of abuse and isolation during the marriage, making the situation more complicated. Further he was seen posting a mocking post over the Instagram with the caption “News Incoming”.
Legally the court has not yet ruled on the alimony; both parties have been asked to submit written responses before the next hearing on June 12, 2025.
However, the outcome will depend on the court’s assessment of the couple’s financial situation, the kids’ needs and the veracity of the allegations.
