After the back to back failures of Kanguva and Retro, Suriya has completed shooting for his next two films. These include Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, and the tentatively titled Suriya 46, directed by Venky Atluri.
Even before the release of Karuppu and Suriya 46, Suriya began work on his 47th film. This project is being directed by Jithu Madhavan. Reports also say he has upcoming films with Pandiraj and Mari Selvaraj.
Amid this busy lineup, strong speculation has emerged around a new project. Director Ashwath Marimuthu, known for his film Dragon, has reportedly narrated a script to Suriya. After hearing the story, Suriya is said to have given his approval.
Reports further suggest that this script was originally written with Rajinikanth in mind. Ashwath Marimuthu had also narrated it to him earlier. However, the project did not materialise due to certain circumstances.
The director is now planning to revive the project with Suriya. After completing his film with Simbu, tentatively titled STR 51, Ashwath Marimuthu is expected to begin this new venture. An official announcement is awaited.
Suriya’s fans have reacted with excitement to this buzz. Many believe the collaboration could result in a sure shot blockbuster. They feel Suriya, who is focusing on content driven films, could benefit from a proper commercial entertainer.
At the same time, Suriya’s packed schedule poses a challenge. With commitments stretching over the next two years, fitting in this project may not be easy. For now, there is no official confirmation.
