Due to poor word of mouth from audiences, Retro has crashed in many centers. In Tamil Nadu, the movie hasn’t even touched the ₹50 crore mark, and according to reports, Retro has not even crossed the ₹100 crore mark worldwide.

After the official poster announcing that Retro has collected ₹235 crore worldwide, even some Kollywood audiences were triggered and criticized the Retro team for posting fake box office numbers.

Many trade experts also commented on social media after the poster’s release that the Retro team is trying to satisfy the actor by posting unimaginable numbers, while in reality, Sasi Kumar’s Tourist Family, which clashed with Retro, has performed better at the box office.

However, the Retro team mentioned in the poster, in small text in one corner, that the ₹235 crore collection includes both theatrical and non-theatrical revenue.
