The release schedules of two big films, Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 starring Chiyaan Vikram and Thudarum starring Mohanlal, are reportedly being influenced by OTT platforms and their streaming deals.
Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, originally planned for a January 2025 release, is now postponed to March 27. This delay is reportedly because a major streaming platform agreed to buy the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights—on the condition that the movie releases at the end of March.

This deal with the OTT platform led to the decision to push back the film’s theatrical release.
Similarly, Thudarum was supposed to release on January 30, 2025, but now speculations suggest that its release could be pushed to May. The delay seems to be tied to the fact that the film has not yet signed an OTT streaming deal.

Reports indicate that the streaming platforms are more likely to purchase the rights if the film releases between April and June 2025. However, no official release date has been confirmed yet.
Both films have big star power—Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 features Chiyaan Vikram as a man caught in a crime network, while Thudarum features Mohanlal as a taxi driver.
