Vizag is quickly turning into an AI city. Indian tech major TCS is in discussions with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to set up a 1 Giga Watt data center in the city.
This will be the third data center in Vizag after Google’s and Sify Technologies’ facilities. TCS plans to use renewable energy from its own plants to power the data center. To meet its high water needs, a desalination plant will also be built.
Along with TCS, Meta has chosen Vizag for its undersea cable project, Waterworth. Sify Technologies will serve as its landing partner for the $400 million Blue-Ramen subsea cable. The landing is expected by 2030.
Stretching over 50,000 km, Waterworth will be the world’s longest subsea cable, connecting the US, India, Brazil, and South Africa.
AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh shared his delight over Meta joining Google in choosing Visakhapatnam. He said this move will firmly establish Vizag as India’s AI and data city.
