A Delta Air Lines passenger shocked everyone on board after changing his baby’s diaper on a tray table during a flight. The incident surfaced recently and quickly triggered widespread outrage online.
Diaper changed on seat tray
The man, seated in 21C, lowered the tray table, placed a blanket on it and changed the diaper right there. He continued even after a flight attendant told him to use the lavatory, which has a surface meant for changing babies.
Passengers called it unhygienic
Travellers around him described the act as unhygienic and unfair. The cabin smelled strongly during the process and the used diaper was left in the seat back pocket for a while before being taken away.
Internet reaction was immediate
You could see the reaction online almost instantly. Many criticised the behaviour as careless and inconsiderate, especially when shared spaces require basic hygiene and respect for others.
Tray tables often not cleaned well
Part of the anger came from knowing that tray tables often don’t get a deep clean between flights. Using one for a diaper change put other passengers at risk and showed poor judgement inside a confined cabin.
Not the first time
Incidents like this are more common than people realise. Changing a diaper on a tray table inside a crowded, shared space was irresponsible and avoidable in this case.
