
A passenger on Reddit recently detailed a chaotic and frustrating experience with Lufthansa, describing what should have been a routine flight from JFK into a 30-hour ordeal filled with delays, confusion, and poor communication.
The traveler arrived early at the airport and immediately faced issues at the service desk, spending over two hours just to check in their luggage. After clearing security, the flight was delayed multiple times.

The situation deteriorated when passengers observed maintenance workers removing a wing fairing and loading it into the cargo hold. After finally boarding three hours late, the plane joined a long queue for takeoff. The pilot turned off two engines to save fuel, only to later discover that a third engine would not start.
The aircraft was then returned to the gate without any immediate explanation. Passengers waited another hour to deplane and were given no updates, told only to “check the app,” which remained outdated.

Luggage retrieval took hours, and passengers were forced to stand in line without guidance, only to be told to book their own hotels and expect an email that never arrived.
Eventually, a hotel note card was handed out and the flight was delayed to the next evening. The next day, passengers arrived to find the check-in counters deserted.
