India’s travel ecosystem is seeing a clear shift as pet-friendly journeys move from niche to mainstream. Changing urban lifestyles and rising pet ownership are driving this trend. Travel with pets is now becoming easier and more widely accepted.

Air India and Uber are expanding services to support pet travel across different stages. These efforts aim to create a smoother and more connected experience for pet owners. The focus is on convenience, comfort, and better planning options.

Air India has introduced clear guidelines under its Paws on Board initiative. The airline allows pets in cabin up to 10 kg including the carrier, or as checked baggage. It has also simplified documentation and reduced booking timelines.

The airline now offers priority boarding and round the clock support for pet travel. It has transported over 8,000 pets in FY 2026, showing rising demand. These measures are helping more passengers travel comfortably with their pets.

On the ground, Uber is improving first and last mile connectivity through Uber Pet. The service is available in cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. It allows easy booking of pet-friendly rides and reduces frequent ride refusals.

Uber has also partnered with Heads Up for Tails to enhance services. This integration connects transport with pet care and retail solutions. It reflects a broader push to support pet owners across daily and travel needs.

This growing ecosystem shows that pets are now treated as family members. Travel decisions increasingly include pet comfort and safety. However, consistent service quality and wider reach will be important for long-term success.
