$100k Worth Jewelry Stolen

In a bold robbery that feels like a scene from a crime thriller, three men clad in black rammed their way into Darbar Jewelers, Chicago on Sunday evening. They shattered the front door with a hammer and left with more than $100.000 in jewelry. The robbery – which happened at 2642 West Devon – was captured on video and is eerily similar to a heist across the street just four months ago.

What is unsettling though, is the almost copycat nature of those crimes. In May, Zar Jewelers, just across the street, was hit in the same way by three men in black using a hammer to steal jewelry just before 6 p.m. on a Sunday. “It’s like it is the same playbook being used, right down to the getaway cars – a white Dodge Charger this time, a white Jeep Grand Cherokee Last time”.

The robbers escaped into an alley while onlookers watched as police investigated the two crimes that might be connected. With Chicago jewelry stores now bracing themselves for what’s becoming a disturbing pattern, one can’t help but wonder if this is the beginning of some trend or just a coincidence.

For the owners, financial loss is not just the only thing that hurts – it’s the sense of vulnerability, the violation of a business they built with love and hard work. We’ve always felt safe here,” one of the owners said, her voice breaking. “Now, it feels like we’re being watched, targeted.”
