The United States of America has once again done what it is best known for when it has no solution to offer. The White House has ‘condemned’ the attacks taking place on Indians and Indian Americans in the US. A bunch of hollow promises were thrown once again and although the state believes violence is unacceptable, it can’t stop it.
The rising number of attacks on Indians in the last few weeks shows a pattern and has unmasked the deep rooted racism that exists in America. The state might be reluctant to see them as hate crimes and perhaps that’s why they haven’t been able to do any justice at all.
The US administration has been heavy on word whenever any such attack has happened and promised to show its commitment to tackle any such problem. But in the process, they’ve failed to even identify the real problem.
There have been 4 attacks on Indian students in the last few weeks in the US. The situation is quite alarming and it is high time the authorities offer more than just condemnation. Violence is unacceptable to the state but the same state is failing terribly to protect its people from that violence.
