A trip back to your homeland can bring back a lot of memories if you’ve been living in a foreign country for more than a decade. However, such a visit didn’t end well for this NRI who came back to India from Australia. The 37 year old man died after falling into a drain in a drunk state.
The incident took place in the Malloud area of Khanna, Punjab where he was attending a wedding related function of a relative. The deceased has been identified to belong from Bulara village, Ludhiana.
The police said that the man drank too much alcohol at the function and fell into the drain. The CCTV footage showed him standing near the drain alone and talking on the phone. Police have ruled out any foul play in the initial investigation.
The NRI was living in Australia for the last 12 years where he lived with his wife and son. He had returned to India around 3-4 months back. The doctors have said that he died of brain injury. The investigation is going on under section 174 of CrPc.
