A shocking domestic dispute has rocked the Charlotte neighbourhood, involving an Indian-origin woman, Chandraprabha Singh. The 44-year-old teaching assistant has been charged with felony assault for allegedly stabbing her US husband.
Incident in Foxhaven Drive
The incident took place on the morning of October 12 at the couple’s residence on Foxhaven Drive. Police were alerted around 10:49 am after receiving a call from the North Carolina neighbourhood. By then, the husband had already been taken to the hospital with a severe neck injury.
Conflicting Versions of the Event
According to the victim, his wife stabbed him intentionally during an argument over cleaning the house. However, Chandraprabha claimed it was an accident, saying she turned with a knife while preparing breakfast and accidentally cut him.
Arrest and Suspension
The 44-year-old was arrested but released two days later, on October 14, after posting a $10,000 secure bond. Following the incident, Endhaven Elementary School, where she worked as a teaching assistant, suspended her with pay pending the investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) Domestic Violence Unit is currently investigating the case. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the inquiry.
Upcoming Court Appearance
Chandraprabha Singh is expected to appear in court on October 30.
