The Infamous Dunki route has had a major change as revealed by the Indian deportees from the US. Instead of the Latin American path, migrants are now chasing the American Dream via Europe.
Traditionally, Indians relied on agents to smuggle them through Brazil, Ecuador, or Colombia. However, with the US cracking down on immigration, many recent deportees revealed they first traveled to countries like the UK, Spain, and Italy before entering America.
Last year, there were also reports of an increasing number of individuals entering the US via the Canadian Border instead of the more popular Mexican alternative. This shows that the smugglers are trying their best to evade the US authorities.
One deportee admitted he spent ₹40 lakh to reach the UK before taking a forest route into the US, only to be caught within 11 days. Another agent reportedly charges ₹48 lakh to send Indians via Italy and Mexico before they reach the US border.
So far 333 illegal Indians have been deported from the US in just 2 weeks. It seems only a matter of time before European countries also adopt this aggressive approach and shut their doors.
