One such traveler shared his frustration online. Despite having Global Entry since 2019, he’s always asked to speak with a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer.

He skips the long lines but can’t just scan his passport and walk out like others. And turns out, he’s not alone.
Another user claiming to be an ex-CBP officer jumped in to explain, saying that the system probably hadn’t been updated with his latest visa details. If your H-1B got renewed or changed and you didn’t inform Global Entry, the kiosk might flag you every time.

Others seconded his opinion and suggested that a simple update at the Global Entry office could fix that.
People also shared their experiences. One person with a green card had the same issue until a CBP officer realized the system still saw them as a student. Once that was fixed, the delays stopped.

So it seems if you have a “trusted traveler” status it is best to book an appointment with your nearest Global Entry office. It will make your travel way smoother.
