
Having a green card doesn’t mean you’re safe anymore. Even legal immigrants are being treated like criminals while entering the US.
A recent social media post revealed how a new green card holder flew to the US for a biometrics appointment. But instead of a routine entry, they were threatened with detention.

They got the green card just six months ago and have made only short visits since. Their full move was delayed for personal reasons, and they even filed for a reentry permit—by the book.
But the border officer didn’t care. He allegedly dismissed their explanation and warned they were abusing the system.

Online, many sided with the officers. Some even mocked the green card holders, calling them a tourist and alleging that they were just exploiting the system.
Rather than treating the US as their permanent residence, they are using the green card as an “Airbnb” according to one user.

However, just six months in, it is hard to judge the other side. Especially considering the current climate, where immigrants doing everything right are also under attack.
If you are a green card holder, it is best to settle in the US. Because, under the new regime, short visits, even due to personal reasons, are reasons for termination.
