In the United States of America, there are numerous restrictions on work rules for immigrants. It is well-known that by the time Indians and Chinese individuals obtain a green card, a significant portion of their lifespan has already passed.
Even after obtaining a green card, there are various restrictions on who one can work for, particularly in government organizations, as they require citizenship for federal and state department jobs.
However, the Washington Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced that it would now accept employment applications from Green Card holders, marking a change in their previous policy that only accepted applications from citizens.
The department cites diversity as the reason for this decision, but it is openly acknowledged that there is a hiring crisis. To attract applicants, the department has also announced a $25,000 hiring bonus and a $6,000 housing assistance incentive.
Regardless of the reason, this decision is welcome news. While it may not be an overly exciting career choice for Telugu individuals, those who are interested now have an opportunity to pursue it while they await their citizenship.
