Help Us: US-Deported Indians in Danger?

Help Us US-Deported Indians in Danger

Hundreds of illegal migrants, including Indians, have been deported from the US to Panama. Now visuals have emerged with some of them holding up “help us” signs from the hotel windows they were staying at.

Amid Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, 299 deportees from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other countries were sent to Panama last week. These are all the immigrants who have either refused to go home or the countries have refused to take them in.

Panama’s security minister claims the deportees aren’t officially “detained.” However, he admitted they could not move freely out of the hotel, which doesn’t sound much better.

Amidst all this, disturbing images have come out showing deportees holding up messages like “Help us” and “Please Save us. We are not safe in our own Country.”

The immediate nationality of these migrants is not known, but the Indian Embassy in Panama quickly took action to confirm their citizens’ safety. In a social media post, they ensured that Indian immigrants are “safe and secure at a hotel with all essential facilities.”

The speculation is that the pleas for help were from the immigrants from war-torn countries like Afghanistan, who are refusing to go back home.

Meanwhile, the Indian government is open to taking back its citizens once it confirms the identities of all the deportees.
