A New Jersey woman, Sobia Qaiser, has filed a lawsuit against Edison Mayor Sam Joshi and the township, alleging severe injuries from a car accident on December 9, 2022.
According to the lawsuit, Qaiser was hit by Joshi, who was allegedly negligent, while driving an official township vehicle. The legal action also holds the township responsible for entrusting the vehicle to Joshi.
The lawsuit claims Qaiser incurred medical expenses, resulting in disability and hindering her daily affairs and business. Seeking damages, interest, and legal costs, the suit emphasizes the pain and employment loss caused by the accident.
Meanwhile, township spokesman Philip Swibinski stated that Mayor Joshi had publicly acknowledged the minor accident, using it to advocate for safe driving during the holiday season.
Joshi, the first South Asian American mayor of the fifth-largest municipality in New Jersey, is described as a dedicated public servant with a history of involvement in local government from a young age.
He has been working on tax reduction, supporting minority-owned businesses, and promoting green energy since joining the Edison Township Council in 2017. He has a good reputation among his peers and the public.
So there are speculations that the woman is trying to defame Sam Joshi on unreasonable grounds and it might be a conspiracy against the reputed Indian American Mayor.
