Indian Origin Man Appointed For King’s Order!

Ajay Kumar Kakkar

The British crown dominated half of the planet for more than a century of time. Alongwith the Britishers, came concepts like slavery and servitude that has persisted in the colonies even today. India might have gained independence from the Britishers but some Indian origin people are still made to serve for the order of the British Crown.

The irony is that the biggest tag of a servant is conferred with the highest honour possible to make it into something special. Indian origin doctor Lord Ajay Kumar Kakkar has recently been appointed as the Knight Companions Of The Most Noble Order by King Charles III.

It is funny how these ‘honours’ have to specify their importance in the name itself as a reassurance that it is worth having. At the very core of these honours lie the fact that the King still treats the citizens as his own subjects, whom he can summon, order or honour.

There can’t be a place for such honours in any democracy. The image of an Indian origin man serving the British crown sounds colonial and brings back the question of modern day slavery.
