The United States of America has always branded itself as the land of freedom and opportunity. But in reality, this freedom is always based on the condition that you conform to the mainstream. All your opportunities will be snatched away if you dare take a different stand. This is exactly what is happening in the USA because of the Israel-Palestine war. Many Indian origin students are fresh targets of American nationalists for their support for the Palestinian cause during this war.
Many South Asian students at Harvard signed a statement that held Israel responsible for the ongoing situation in Gaza and Israel. Their statement received extreme backlash and it was seen as an open support to the Hamas terrorists. But this soon turned into an act of vendetta as many prominent CEOs demanded to know who these students are so that they would never hire them. Many people in the US have already lost their jobs because of their support for Palestine.
This situation got even worse when local conservatives hired a truck with a huge screen that showed names and photos of the leaders associated with the statement. This was an extreme case of breach of privacy which could have potentially put the lives of these students at risk. However, the land that champions for rights never found anything wrong in stripping rights of people who disagreed with them.
The threat by the CEOs forced many of these groups and students to withdraw their statement. The total control of narrative in the West by the western media is a matter of concern. America is a country that wages war with rice farmers and nomads. It is no surprise it feels threatened by a handful of foreign students.
