An Indian student at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Shreya Verma, faced a shocking situation when a Lyft driver abandoned her on the way to Logan International Airport in Boston, stealing all her belongings, including important documents.
Ms. Shreya’s distress began when she forgot her headphones during a Lyft trip. Retrieving them, she asked the driver to wait, but upon returning, the ride was canceled, leaving her without access to vehicle information and unable to quickly locate her belongings.
Sharing her ordeal and conversations with Lyft customer service, Shreya highlighted the devastating loss of $30,000, including her passport, VISA, OPT/EAD Card, and electronics.
Despite actively engaging with Lyft and the Cambridge Police Department, obtaining crucial driver details has proven challenging, requiring time-consuming legal procedures. Lyft CEO David Risher also apologized to Shreya, assuring that their team was addressing the situation.
Unfortunately, this incident has prevented Shreya from reuniting with her family in India, especially at a critical time when her father is battling cancer. While authorities continue to investigate, Shreya awaits positive developments in the matter.
