Indian Students in Danger After Trump's Return?

With Donald Trump back in the White House, it is only a matter of time before he continues his stringent attacks on immigration. This can be a major concern for the Indian community that has been growing strong in the United States.

Indian students currently studying or aspiring to study in the US might be worried about Trump’s support for Project 2025, a conservative push to reshape US immigration. During his campaign he promised the “largest” deportation drive in history, adding to the fear.

America is still the top destination for education among Indians, with over 140,000 visas issued last year. It also offers immigrants better job opportunities than what’s possible back home.

Yet, if the new US president clamps down on immigration policies, student visas might get caught in the crossfire. However, some experts see a potential upside in Trump’s policies.

Sourabh Arora, an Indian American CEO of University Living, thinks Trump could bring opportunities for students, with policies supporting green cards for graduates. If true, it could be a huge step in the right direction, but his intentions are still up for debate.
