The death of Suchir Balaji, an India-origin researcher at OpenAI, continues to raise questions. Despite the authorities ruling it as suicide, the family refuses to accept it and demands justice.
In a recent development, San Francisco authorities have confirmed the mysterious death as a suicide after conducting an autopsy. However, Poornima Rao, the mother of Suchir, has slammed the reports, calling them flawed and inconsistent.
In a social media post, Poornima revealed that she is now sending a hair found in her son’s apartment for testing to uncover the truth herself. Elon Musk, who has been open about her issues with OpenAI recently, also stepped in, posting, “This doesn’t seem like a suicide.”
Yet, the San Francisco Medical Examiner remains firm that there was no forced entry or foul play. It was just a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The major concern for the parents and the social media users is that Suchir had been critical about OpenAI ethical practices while developing ChatGPT. His death under such circumstances was very shocking for his family.
While officially it has been declared as suicide, nothing has been said about what led him to take such a drastic step. The Indian techie’s family is seeking answers and comfort which the authorities have failed to provide.
