In Canada’s largest-ever gold and cash heist, nine people, some of Indian origin, have been arrested.
The stolen loot, valued at over $20 million, included 6,600 bars of pure gold and CAD 2.5 million in foreign currency.
The daring theft took place at Toronto Pearson International Airport’s secure Air Canada cargo facility.
As the plot thickens, we discover that the heist is an inside job, with two Air Canada employees allegedly pulling off the ultimate betrayal.
The investigation, involving Canadian and US authorities, led to arrests and charges, including theft and possession of stolen property.
Among those arrested were Parmpal Sidhu, Amit Jalota, Simran Preet Panesar, Archit Grover, and Arsalan Chaudhary. Additionally, in the US, a person was arrested with illegal firearms, including untraceable “ghost guns.”
Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah praised the collaborative efforts in cracking this international case and urged anyone with information to come forward.
This real-life heist with all the twists & turns, and unexpected revelations looks straight out of a Netflix series like Money Heist!
