Navratri Celebration Forced to Cancel at US Temple

Navratri Celebration

Whether you’re in India or abroad, the festive season always fills you up with a spirit of celebration and joy. While it is easy to express that in your own country, it can be something you’ve to fight for in other lands. Indian communities living across the US have managed to provide opportunities for everyone to live that same festive spirit by organizing community events. However, the Indian community living in Dayton, Ohio, had to miss out on the much awaited Garba celebration during Navratri because of a terror alert.

A Hindu temple in Ohio was forced to cancel garba celebrations after a call for ‘global day of jihad’ by a former Hamas leader. The police department of Dayton informed the temple authority about the potential threat to places of religious worship after which the celebration was canceled on Friday night.

Khalel Meshal, former leader of Hamas, made an official statement claiming to declare next Friday which was 13th of October in support of Jerusalem, Al Aqsa and Gaza. Meshal is currently based in Doha, Qatar.

The garba celebrations commenced again on Saturday but the community shared their concern about safety in the state. It was just a precautionary measure but such threats have exposed a fear in the USA, ever since the Israel-Palestine war began.
