As per the latest reports, the basement of a multi-family building at 77 Nelson Avenue caught on fire in a freakish accident and the fire spread to the first and second floors later. Apparently, several Indian students and working professionals were displaced due to the fire accident.

The Consulate General of India in New York stated that they are in contact with the displaced individuals and there is nothing to worry about for now. This is being termed as an unfortunate fire accident at a residential building in New Jersey.

The Consulte confirmed that the Indian students and professionals who were at the building during the time of the accident(Thursday) were safely evacuated. Luckily no injuries or casualties were reported in the accident.

It was later identified that 11 Indian students and a couple were among the residents of the building in New Jersey. None of them are hurt.

The Consulate stated that they are in touch with the students and are looking of their accommodation and securing important documents.
