Although Nikki Haley has ended her election campaign against Donald Trump for the Republican nomination, she’s not out of the news. The Indian origin lawmaker and former US Ambassador to the UN wants to make stronger ties with India to strengthen the position of the USA in the region.
Nikki Haley has identified China as the biggest threat to the United States. It is not the first time that she has made reference to India and it has become a part of her politics. She called for stronger ties with India, Japan and Australia to curb the growing influence of ‘communist China’.
Nikki Haley had used her Indian ties during the election campaign as well while trying to garner the support of Indian American republicans who were divided over Trump and Vivek Ramaswamy. She also claimed how she faced racism in the country during her childhood.
Nikki Haley said that China is the biggest threat to American security and prosperity. She has also been critical of Trump’s closeness with China’s Xi Jinping. She was advocating for a new China policy during her campaign which involved closer ties with India.
