When the race for the opposition’s face in the upcoming US Presidential election began, Nikki Haley was nowhere near the front runner position. The Indian origin former state governor has made her way up fighting against her fellow republicans like Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy and is now second only to Donald Trump who is still comfortably leading.

Speaking at past interviews, Nikki Haley has talked about facing racism in the United States being the daughter of an immigrant Indian family. She said that when she was young, she would often get teased in the playground. She said that her mother wanted her to show how she is similar to them.

This is one of the reasons why Nikki Haley is openly advocating against Donald Trump, who was widely criticized for his allegedly ‘white supremacist’ stand. She believes his nomination could cost the republicans the 2024 elections.

Nikki Haley was under fire recently when she failed to mention slavery as a cause for the civil war. She later said that it was a given and tried to justify herself. Nikki Haley had called for the removal of the confederate battle flag from statehouse grounds during her tenure as governor.
