There haven’t been a lot of opportunities to discuss foreign relations in the presidential debates for the 2024 US elections. Now with only two republicans left in the contest, Nikki Haley has made big promises about how she wants the relationship of other important countries with the United States. Nikki Haley wants to strengthen ties with India in order to gain more friends on their side.
Nikki Haley believes that it is important for the US to have more and more allies on their side and they can’t rely just on NATO for it. She said that if voted to power, she will strengthen ties with India, Australia, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines.
On the question of NATO, she said that it is important to strengthen ties there as well and also accused Donald Trump of being a threat to the NATO alliance. She also said that current president Joe Biden has failed on many fronts when it comes to maintaining foreign relations.
Another reason why she wants to have more friends is because of the rising influence of China and Russia in the region. She also blames Trump and Biden for emboldening the “enemies”.
