A 43-year-old man of Indian origin, Mukesh Shah from Wembley, North London, has been sentenced to nine months in prison in the UK for committing indecent exposure on a London Underground train.
Shah found guilty of masturbating in front of a lone woman during a tube journey on November 4, 2022, received the sentence and a 10-year registration on the sex offenders list.
The incident unfolded around 11:40 pm when the victim, traveling alone in an empty Piccadilly Line carriage between Sudbury Town and Acton Town, noticed Shah sitting diagonally opposite her, making her uncomfortable. He was exposed and engaged in indecent acts.
The brave victim captured Shah on camera, confronted him, and reported the incident to the British Transport Police (BTP), providing crucial evidence for his identification.
The police department praised the victim’s bravery and emphasized the seriousness of sexual offenses. The court heard that Shah, despite protests, moved away when confronted by the victim. BTP imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order on Shah to prevent further incidents upon his release.
