The European Union has introduced a new and improvised visa rule especially for Indians which is going to make traveling much hassle free in the coming years. The EU is changing the policy for Schengen visa, which allows Indian travelers to visit 25 out of the 27 countries in the European Union.
The Schengen visa allowed Indians to stay in the Schengen region for a period of 90 days within the stipulated time of 180 days. This visa was of both single and multiple entry type. The new rule now allows Indians to obtain a visa for an extended period of upto 2 years.
This new scheme can be availed by those Indians who have acquired and utilized two Schengen visas in the last three years. This will also allow Indians to move freely among the Schengen countries without any additional paperwork.
Those who have successfully availed the two year visa scheme would be allowed to apply for a 5 year Schengen visa if their passport has enough validity. The changes are going to help frequent fliers from India who have to visit Europe regularly.
