Zero Telugus Among Those Deported From US

The illegal immigrants who have been sent back from the US do not include any Telugus. And it is a huge relief for many families in Telugu states.

Usually, most illegal immigrants who go through highly challenging and dangerous routes called as Dunki routes hail from states like Punjab and Gujarat.

Not surprisingly, Punjab had 30 people who were deported back, while Haryana and Gujarat had 33. UP and Maharashtra had 3 people each.

But from Telugu states, zero number of people were deported. Amidst left, right and center deportations, it remains to be seen for how long the number remains zero.

Usually, Telugu people are looked upon as hard-working, law-abiding citizens in the US. But given the present situation, nothing is clear for now.

The Telugu population was 87,543 in 2000 while it is 12,39,000 in 2024. The largest Telugu-speaking population are in California, Texas and New Jersey.

However, the risk of those trying to enter the US with undocumented papers or overstaying their visa could face deportation in coming days with Trump making it his prime agenda.
