Sunil Bharti Mittal, the founder and chairman of Bharti Enterprise, has been awarded the Honorary Knighthood by King Charles ||| . Becoming the first Indian to receive this award.
On Wednesday 28th February, 2024 he became the first Indian citizen who received the Honorary Knighthood, the Knight Commander of the most excellent order of the British Empire. For advancing India- UK business relation by King Charles III.
From Newcastle University, Sunil Bharti Mittal who is a member of India-UK CEO Forum, has been awarded Honorary Doctor of Civil Law.
He is also a member of the Vice- Chancellor’s circle of Advisors at the University of Cambridge. Mittal has also received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Leeds.
Sunil Mittal, successfully led the revival of OneWeb, which is now called Eutelsat, making a consortium with the UK government to offer satellite broadband service globally.
In a recent interview he said, he is very humble. He also mentioned that the relation between India and UK is entering into a new era of increased cooperation and collaboration.
The KBE is a very prestigious award given to the civilian by the king or the queen. Previously, Ravi Shankar in 2001, Ratan Tata in 2009 and Jamshed Irani in 1997 are the other Indians who were awarded KBE by Queen Elizabeth ||.
