Texas Tragedy

As reported earlier, in a horrific and tragic incident on U.S. Highway 67 in Texas, six individuals, including five members of a family from Andhra Pradesh, lost their lives in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a minivan. The crash occurred in Johnson County on a Tuesday evening during rush hour.

YSR Congress Party MLA Ponnada Venkata Satish Kumar, representing Mummidivaram in the Andhra Pradesh assembly, revealed that the victims were his close relatives and residents of Amalapuram in the Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema district.

The victims were identified as P Nageshwara Rao (64), Nageswar Rao’s wife Seetha Mahalakshmi (60), daughter Naveena (36), and two kids, grandson Kruthik and granddaughter Nishita aged around 10.

The sixth, also a family member, has not yet been named. Nageshwar Rao’s son-in-law Lokesh was the sole survivor in the minivan, sustaining critical injuries and currently undergoing treatment.

The family was visiting the country from India, returning from Christmas celebrations in Texas. They had visited a zoo on the morning of December 26 and were on their way back around 4 pm. The crash took place on US Highway 67 and County Road 1119 in the Nemo area.

Two youngsters in the pickup truck survived the crash, driving on the wrong side of the road, and were airlifted to Fort Worth Hospital.

TANA (Telugu Association of North America) treasurer Kolla Ashok Babu and Telugu Foundation treasurer Polavarapu Srikanth are actively assisting in bringing the bodies back to India.
