Tollywood Twist To Kamala Harris Campaign

Kamala Harris

You might have seen songs for your favorite parties during Indian election season. Whether it is the official songs launched by parties or some catchy tunes launched by some fan accounts, it brings a flavor to the dire political process. And it seems this craze has reached America as well.

Ahead of the US elections in November, an Indian-American entrepreneur, Ajay Jain Bhutoria, released a music video to show the community’s support for Kamala Harris. Moreover, it was the Hindi-dub version of the Oscar-winning song “Natu Natu” from RRR.

The Bollywood singer Bharti Singh sang the song and gave it a twist with its lyrics directly expressing joy amongst the Indian diaspora if Harris is elected as the President. It also shows videos of people from the community backing the Harris and Walz duo.

It was a smart move to use the Academy Award-winning song for this campaign as it is not only catchy but also familiar to the Western audience, apart from just the South-Asian communities that it is aimed towards.

This follows the launch of the “Indian Americans for Harris” campaign in the key battleground states a few days ago. It will be interesting to see if there is any retort or bid from Trump’s camp to sway the Indian-American voters to their side.
