
The run for US election witnessed numerous racial and cultural attacks on Indian origin candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley. It only showed us that when there’s a lot at stake, politicians won’t shy away from stooping as low as possible and delivering punches below the belt. Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is the latest victim of racial prejudice as he ramps up his campaign for the general elections.
A Far right leader has accused Sunak of not understanding British culture. Sunak, who has served 20 months as the Prime Minister is leading the conservatives for the election scheduled for 4th of July. Far right politician Nigel Farage has alleged that he can never be a British patriot in full measure.

This is nothing more than an attack on a person simply based on his ethnicity. The far right in the UK hasn’t been supportive of the immigrants and their cause and can’t stand the sight of a son of immigrants leading the country.
Although Farage claimed that he never intended to attack him because of his race, his justification wasn’t sufficient. Ironically, Rishi Sunak himself doesn’t have any soft corner for immigrants and his green signal to Rwanda project has been heavily criticized and challenged in the country.
