The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially initiated ticket sales for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup 2024, introducing a public ballot system to ensure fairness.
Scheduled to take place from June 1 to June 29, this edition is poised to be the most extensive T20 World Cup yet, featuring an impressive lineup of 55 matches across nine cities.
India is set to kick off their World Cup journey with a match against Ireland on June 5 in the vibrant city of New York.
However, the most anticipated match is undoubtedly the India Vs. Pakistan clash. In a notable Group A encounter, arch-rivals India and Pakistan are scheduled to engage in a fierce battle, also in New York on June 9. The demand for tickets has soared to unimaginable levels.
To provide an equal opportunity to fans globally, the ICC has introduced a public ticket ballot, open until February 7.
This system enables enthusiasts to secure tickets for their preferred matches at renowned cricket stadiums worldwide.
Meanwhile, the anticipation among cricket enthusiasts has already reached a fever pitch, with a staggering 1.2 million ticket applications flooding in within the first 48 hours of the public ballot.
With the option to request up to six tickets per match and for multiple matches during the ballot period, the process operates on a fair basis—ensuring all applicants within the seven-day timeframe have an equal chance of obtaining tickets.
Excitingly, ticket prices for the T20 World Cup 2024 start at a mere $6. Over 260,000 tickets will be up for grabs during the group stage, with prices for the Super Eight and semi-finals capped at $25 or less.
The mega tournament, set to unfold in the West Indies and the United States, has attracted interest from 126 countries. Notably, the Americas have experienced the strongest demand, with over 900,000 ticket applications from fans within the US and the West Indies.
