Indian Student's Death

The Blue Whale Challenge is a scary game that started in Russia. The game targets depressed people on social media and forces them to do dangerous tasks.

It lasts 50 days and involves doing tasks given by an admin. These tasks start easy, like waking up at night, but get worse, like standing on top of a tall building or hurting yourself. The final task is to kill yourself.

People are forced to do these tasks through threats or trickery. The game has been connected to many suicides in Russia, Ukraine, India, and the US since 2019.

The game’s story began with Rina Palenkova, a Russian girl who posted a selfie with blood on her finger. She died by suicide the next day.

Latest reports suggest that an Indian student studying at the University of Massachusetts died in March 2024, and authorities think it was suicide. They believe he was playing the dangerous social media game, “Blue Whale Challenge.”

His challenge involved holding his breath for two minutes. His name hasn’t been shared out of respect for his family’s privacy. The case is being investigated as a suicide.

The Indian government wanted to ban the game in 2017 but instead just gave warnings about it.

This incident shows that the game is still being played, even if it’s not in the news.
