3 Hours Of Jailer Or 1 Year Of Prime Video!

Rajinikanth's-Jailer-For-1400-RupeesRajinikanth as the lead role is enough to make fans go crazy, and as the release date approaches, the hype is absolutely immense. The film will hit theaters on August 10th, and with a star-studded cast, there is no doubt about its box office success.

Now, the advanced booking of the film has just started, and it isn’t the best of promises. Jailer will indeed be a film thoroughly enjoyed by the fans, but the pricing is surely raising plenty of concerns.

Recently, some tweets have gone viral, highlighting the high ticket prices in places like Bangalore – ₹800 for normal seats at PVR and ₹1400 for recliners.

The big budget of the film is undoubtedly reflected in the ticket prices, and even from a global standpoint, the USA has shown a strong response, with 17,000+ tickets sold in 235 locations. However, the question remains: Is the hype enough to justify the massive prices?

This is not the first time costly tickets have been sold, as the southern audience already experienced high-priced films like RRR, Barbie, and Oppenheimer. But ₹800? That’s a question fans are raising.

These high prices also amplify the ‘PVR’ monopoly on ticket pricing. A 700-800 price point for basic seats is something very concerning. However, after the post-Covid period, audiences are showing a tendency to opt for OTT platforms, making them the ultimate destination for any films that come out.

The theatrical experience matters a lot for many films; just see how effective RRR and Oppenheimer were based on the theatrical experience alone. So, Jailer will fall into that bracket, and at least the fans will watch the movie. But for casual moviegoers, they might either wait for ticket prices to go down or skip it. Alternatively, they can choose to watch it on OTT platforms with that amount, like Prime Video.
