Amazon Prime’s “Mr and Mrs Smith” is taking this year’s Emmys seriously. The series starred Donald Glover and Maya Erskine is inspired by the 2005 movie starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, as a spy couple John and Jane Smith who are staying as a married couple.
Glover is already nominated for five Emmys this year. Which is a great sign for “Mr and Mrs Smith”.
Alongside Janine Nabers, his recent nomination was last year’s prime’s limited series Swarm’s writing. With three nominations from Maya’s side she is entering the ground with a strong take.
The series is also a fascinating one because of it’s additional special characters. The first season of the movie received wide appreciation.
In IMDB it got 7 out of 10. Critics are saying, “It’s the evolving relationship between John and Jane Smith that is the focus of the narrative. First trust, then love as the two discover they make a good couple both professionally and personally”.
Audiences appreciated the theme as they are saying, “The overall theme of the series is that relationships involve a lot of hard work and communication, at times seeming even more difficult than the life-and-death situations of being a spy”.
In Rotten Tomatoes it is whooping 90% freash.
